Pequeno vestido preto e florido | Little black flowery dress

Depois de uma temporada relativamente longa sem atividade blogosférica, passei cá para o último post do ano, em que vos mostro um vestido que fiz o mês passado – sim, embora não tenha partilhado muito, tenho costurado!

After a while of no blogging activity, I just stopped by for a last post of the year, presenting you a dress I made last month – yes, although I haven’t shared much, I’ve actually been doing some sewing!

O molde é do (magnífico!) livro Un Eté Couture, da Géraldine Debeauvais, criadora do (também magnífico!) blog République du Chiffon. O tecido é um algodão leve e florido, com uma faixa de algodão preto na cintura.

P.S. As fotos estão péssimas… A máquina nunca foi boa, mas entretanto tem estado cada vez de pior saúde… Oh well, pode ser que no próximo ano se reforme.

The pattern is from the (awesome!) book Un Eté Couture, by Géraldine Debeauvais, creator of the (also awesome!) blog République du Chiffon. The fabric is a light flowery cotton, with a strip of black cotton at the waist.

P.S. The photos suck… My camera was never great by lately it has been getting worse… Oh well, maybe next year it’ll retire…

O vestido “Não estamos sozinhos” | The “We are not alone” dress

O padrão “universo” talvez seja um pouquinho last season, mas o facto é que, como tantas outras tendências, estranhei-o durante um tempo, depois comecei a achar-lhe piada, depois encontrei um tecido giro dentro do género e depois foi preciso arranjar tempo até poder fazer qualquer coisa com ele. Espero que não seja tarde demais…

The “universe” pattern is maybe kind of “last season”, but the fact is that, as it happens with so many other fashion trends, I didn’t quite like it at first, then I started to get it, then I found a cute fabric on the theme and then I had to find the time to make something of it. Hopefully it’s not to late…

A ‘rentreé’ | The ‘rentreé’

 

Depois de uma pequena pausa de fim de verão, eis que vos apresento mais uma produção caseira – um vestido inspirado no Mia dress, da coleção de outono de 2012 da Dear Creatures.

After a (kind of) short end-of-Summer break, I hereby present you another homemade creation – a dress inspired by the Mia dress, from the Dear Creatures Autumn 2012 collection.

A ideia foi reinterpretar o modelo, que depois foi trabalhado a partir deste molde. O tecido é um algodão leve azul acinzentado.

The idea was to reinterpret the model, which was then worked on using this pattern. The fabric is a light grayish blue cotton.

Entretanto, tenho tido mil ideias para projetos que vou querer fazer, mas muito pouco tempo para avançar com eles… Pode ser que a nova estação e esta chuva ajudem!

Meanwhile, I’m having tons of ideas for projects that I will want to make, but not so many time to work on them… I’m hoping this new season and the rain might help!

Domingos | Sundays

Há alguns meses que estava com imensa vontade de fazer uma t-shirt. Em malha, para ficar mesmo confortável. Mas tinha receio que corresse muito mal e que estragasse os tecidos giros que comprei. Hoje foi o dia de arriscar! Assim, para quebrar a ronha dos domingos!

I’ve been wanting to make a t-shirt for a while now. A jersey one, so it’s really comfy. But I was afraid it all went wrong and that I would end up ruining the pretty fabrics I bought. Today, I went for it! Just to break the laziness that takes over me every Sunday! 

Não usei propriamente um molde – mais dois retângulos com uma gola e dois mais pequenos para as mangas. Depois juntei tudo com os pontos para malhas da minha super máquina de costura (descobri recentemente que existiam e fiquei muito mais confiante para avançar com a minha primeira t-shirt! Os livros de instruções são inacreditavelmente subestimados…!).

O tecido é uma mistura de algodão e linho, cor de rosa velho.

I didn’t really use a pattern – more like two rectangles with a neckline and two smaller ones for the sleeves. Afterwards, I sew them all together with my recently found sewing machine stretch stitches (finding the stretch stitches in my machine made me much more confident to go for my first t-shirt! Instructions manuals are so incredibly underrated…!).

The fabric is a fancy cotton and linen bled, in a soft vintage pink.

Previsível | Foreseeable

Parece imenso que já viram estes calções algures, não parece? A cor é idêntica, as pregas também… e o facto de serem calções. Mas não, não são os mesmos. Acabei-os hoje. A textura do tecido é diferente e têm uma cintura de elástico. Ainda assim, não sei bem de que tipo de bloqueio criativo padeci quando decidi fazer uns calções com este tecido… Enfim: sou previsível e volto sempre ao conhecido…!

It kind of looks like you’ve seen these shorts somewhere before, right? The color is identical, the pleats too… and the fact that they’re shorts. But no, these are not the same shorts. I finished them today. The texture of the fabric is different, though, and they have an elastic waist. Still, I’ve definitely suffered from some king of creativity block when I decided to make these shorts out of this fabric… Oh well, I’m predictable and I always come back to what I know…!

Tecido: Acho que poliéster ( 😦 ), mas sem certeza. Cor de ferrugem, só porque cor de tijolo já tenho uns…

Fabric: Polyester, I think ( 😦 ), but I’m not sure. Rust colored, because I already had a brick colored pair…

Plano B | Plan B

Quando comprei este tecido, a ideia era fazer umas calças. Daquelas largas e fluidas para dias relaxados de verão e praia. Depois percebi que não conseguia fazer as duas pernas com o retalho que comprei… E fiz um vestido. Sem molde,  bem simples. Quase pareceu batota…

When I bought this fabric, my idea was to make a pair a pants. One of those very wide and fluid pants for Summer days at the beach. Then I realized I didn’t have enough fabric to do both legs… And I made a dress. No pattern, very simple. It almost felt like cheating…

 

As calças preferidas | The go-to pants

Descobri o meu molde preferido de calças! Super confortáveis, com bolsos, sem zippers (uma vez que ainda não domino a arte de os instalar) e com um ar composto o suficiente para que eu possa usá-las para trabalhar.

I’ve found my favorite pants pattern! Super comfy, with pockets, no zippers (as I still can’t sew them that well) and looking put together enough for me to take them to work.

É possível que ainda sofram alguns ajustes, mas até lá parecem-me perfeitamente usáveis!

I’ll probably still make some adjustments, but until then, they look perfectly wearable to me!

Little white dress

Zebras extravagantes | High profile zebras

O molde é o mesmo que este, sem a parte de baixo das mangas. E as zebras são muita giras!
The pattern is the same as this one, without the bottom part of the sleeves. And the zebras are so cool!

“Coudre? C’est facile!”

Há umas semanas recebi – finalmente! depois de ter de lidar com toda a ineficiência dos operadores de correios… – as revistas que encomendei no site francês Mamzelle Fourmi. São fascículos de uma edição especial da revista Coudre c’est facile, com imensos moldes japoneses giros giros, e de uma forma geral nada complicados de fazer. Tudo em bom, portanto!

A few weeks ago I – finally! – received the books I ordered from the French site Mamzelle Fourmi. It’s a number of fascicles from a special edition of the sewing magazine Coudre c’est facile, with lots of seriously cute Japanese patterns, all in all not so complicated to make. Great, great buy!

Molde: Tenho imensa dificuldade em escolher, de todos os moldes de todos os livros que já fui reunindo e de todos os retalhos de tecidos que fui comprando, o que é que vou fazer a seguir… As chatices de se ser Balança. Mas enfim, depois de alguma hesitação, avancei com um vestido do volume 4 da série. Tive de estreitar o molde ainda um bom bocado, até porque não havia tamanho S, só M e L.
Tecido: algodão liso azul acinzentado, da Feira dos Tecidos da Rua Áurea (fã das caixas de retalhos perdidos e baratuchos!).
Acabamento: fita de viés de algodão às riscas, de um tecido que “herdei” da caixa da minha mãe.

Pattern: I’m having serious trouble choosing what to do next with all the patterns from all the books I’ve been collecting and all the fabric scraps I’ve been buying… Comes with being a Libra. Anyway, after hesitating for a while, I went with a dress from volume 4 of the series. I had to narrow it a lot, as there was no Small size pattern. 
Fabric: greyish dark blue, again bought at Feira dos Tecidos (I’m a fan of those cheap scrap boxes!)
Finishing: home made bias tape made from a stripped cotton fabric I “inherited” from my mom’s sewing supplies box.
